Raven started showing signs of her impending labour 2 days before they arrived. We had a few scary moments with babies being born blue but we got there and had a surprise litter of 8. They were born with good weights, only 50g between the smallest and largest puppies. We have 5 boys and 3 girls.
Over the last few days, we have ensured the puppies are nice and warm, gaining weight and doing health checks often. Raven was eating and drinking well but lost her appetite so we have been trying everything we can to get her to eat food and drink water. Otherwise, she is well in herself, cleaning and feeding her babies like she should and has started to interact with the pack again.
I have a few people waiting to hear which puppies match their family and lifestyle. We will have some available though I am not going to advertise them just yet. I want to focus on their health, socialisation, and learning about their little personalities. I then can advertise with information about the puppy, the kind of homes they would suit and provide photos and videos to show what the puppies have been learning via socialisation.
Socialisation has started via handling often and today with ESI and ENS. We will continue doing ENS and ESI until day 16. Around day 21 we will start noise desensitisation.
I have been planning the above photos for months. I was searching for newborn puppy photo ideas and came across a newborn digital background. This was my first time editing using a puppy on a blanket and then transferring them to the background. While they are not perfect, I am pleased with my first attempts and it will be a meaningful keepsake for myself and future families.
I will be sharing photos and updates often via Instagram, Facebook and the page's story.
Potential puppy owners will be welcome to visit around week 4/5 and they can meet the puppies, mum and dad as well as my pack. This is a great opportunity for them to get an idea of the puppy's adult sizes, parents' temperaments and to ask questions.
